Dreams are Dancers

Dreams
are dancers that  dance with  time,
dawdling over shadows of the past.

They rise and  float above many rivers
whose depths I have never tested.

But in the rivers’ shimmering currents
I see  reflections of many faces
wavering and fractured
those faces I’ve  never forgotten.

    Helen,

Both your images and verse are haunting and bitter sweet.

It makes me think of those on the other side – memory is a step removed from reality, dreams are a leap beyond, yet bring us closer to a different kind of truth.

I am in “synch” with your responses. And yes, yes about the bitter and the sweet of our lives. And all those on the other side: where are they, but mostly in our memory…as you say a different kind of truth. And may I add: a truth we barely understand.
