  1. beautiful thought – beautiful image! What if the “war machine” and the war economy were shut down for one day?

  2. Helen Webber says:

What if? Yes. It’s all about allowing us to imagine what seems impossible. The war machines are monstrous, but monsters have been demolished in the past. This monster can be transformed into a peace machine. Just imagine.

The shared thought of peace brings varied images of peace; for a Buddhist it might be seeing someone in a lotus position meditating, for another it could be an image of people holding hands circling the globe, etc. Your image seems a complex tapestry (oddly enough) of different images of peace. Wouldn’t it be great if you could start an international movement (like the AIDS quilt of a while back) which encouraged people to add their images to the WORLD PEACE TAPESTRY, and have it travel far and wide…

Your idea had to be good, since it got me thinking.

  4. Helen says:

Last night, I was dreaming of starting an image connection going around the world, with artists adding their own peace expressions. Joan, we ARE connected! It’s a great idea.

  5. Helen says:

I want to reiterate. THE WORLD PEACE TAPESTRY. It probably has been done in one form or another…but it’s
a good enough idea to duplicate!

  6. Val Olson says:

Helen, your artwork and vision is inspirational.

I believe that color inspires, and greatly influences our state of mind.

What color is peace? It’s the color of the rainbow. Peace is about inclusion, it’s being inwardly serene, it’s working through differences by finding common values to honor. Peace can come in a moment. There is always peace somewhere. Though the world has never been at total peace, it’s a vision to hold on to. It’s a matter of degrees. Peace and love, war and hate. Let’s embrace love, and peace will follow.

  7. Helen says:

The question is how many degrees. How many degrees of war can we suffer? How many degrees of separation are we from Peace?

Clinton says there is a possibility of a peace agreement between Israel and Palestine. I cherish his words of hope.

Yes love is an important ingredient, and so is hope. The naysayers leave no room for the possibility of peace.
